Most of my friends believe the media is too conservative, yet the Republicans I know say it is too liberal. What gives? My belief is that the media is only liberal from a social point-of-view; meaning they try to be as multicultural as they can. Plus, the media is made up of a good number of people who accept the fact that the world is not made up of white conservative Christians. On the other hand from all other positions the media is conservative; especially in their coverage of politics and economics.
However the 'liberal', 'conservative' tag is not easy to pin down. A thoughtful three part piece by Jack Shafer in Slate tackles this conundrum.

Anyway it seems the ‘liberal media’ couldn’t handle being too liberal – plus the ratings were low – so MSNBC has pulled Donahue.
